Exams

There will be an early exam, two midterm exams and the final exam. The time of these exams is as follows:
Early Exam: 8:30pm-10pm, 9/13
Midterm 1: 8:30pm-10pm, 10/6
Midterm 2: 8:30pm-10pm, 11/2
Final exam: 8:30pm-11pm, 12/19


Early exam

Time: Tu, 9/13, 8:30-10pm
Room: Students in Lecture 1 (MWF 9:35) should go to Javits 102; everyone else should go to Javits 100.
What to bring with you: student ID, scrap paper, pencils. Calculators and cell phones are not allowed during the exam.
Material covered: This exam will cover the material of the first two weeks of classes, up to Section 1.6. Here are some practice problems for the exam.

Students who perform poorly on this exam will be forced to move to a lower level class.


Midterm 1

Time: Th, 10/6, 8:30-10pm
Room: Students in Lecture 1 (MWF 9:35) should go to Javits 102; everyone else should go to Javits 100.
What to bring with you: student ID, scrap paper, pencils. Calculators and cell phones are not allowed during the exam.
Material covered: This exam will cover all the material we have studied so far, up to Section 2.8. For practice, please take a look at the midterm from Fall 2010.

Students who perform poorly on this exam will be forced to move to a lower level class.


Midterm 2

Time: Wed, 11/2, 8:30-10pm
Room: Students in Lecture 1 (MWF 9:35) should go to Javits 102; everyone else should go to Javits 100.
What to bring with you: student ID, scrap paper, pencils. Calculators and cell phones are not allowed during the exam.
Material covered: This exam will cover all the material we have studied so far, up to Section 4.1.


Final exam

Time: Mon, 12/19, 8:30-11pm
Room: Students in Lecture 1 (MWF 9:35) should go to Javits 102; everyone else should go to Javits 100.
What to bring with you: student ID, scrap paper, pencils. Calculators and cell phones are not allowed during the exam.
Material covered: The exam will be cumulative: it covers all the material we have covered in the class, up to and including Substitution rule. It is expected to be no more than 10 questions; as in the previous exams, you are required to write full explanation of your solution, not just an answer.
Preparing for the exam: The best way to prepare for the exam is going over all the previous exams and homeworks. In addition, there will be a help session on Fri, Dec. 16, 11am-1pm, in Old Eng 145.
