Math 132 - Spring 2005

Last year's practice exam for the first midterm:
Practice Exam for Midterm 1 in pdf
Practice Exam for Midterm 1 in ps
Solutions to this exam:
Practice Exam Solutions for Midterm 1 in pdf
Practice Exam Solutions for Midterm 1 in ps
Note the following points about this practice exam:
In the solution to problem 2(d), there's a misprint: the second integral should be taken from 0 to b, not 0 to 2.
In problem 3, which is the same as problem 5, I would not expect you to evaluate the answers as decimal numbers, but just to leave them in unsimplifed form.
Problem 6 covers material from section 6.2, which won't be on our test.

Last year's practice exam for the second midterm:
Practice Exam for Midterm 2 in pdf
Practice Exam for Midterm 2 in ps
Solutions to this exam:
Practice Exam Solutions for Midterm 2 in pdf
Practice Exam Solutions for Midterm 2 in ps
Note the following points about this practice exam:
Problems 5,7,8 and 9 cover material from sections that won't be tested on our second midterm.
On the other hand, Problem 6 from the FIRST practice exam covers material from section 6.2, which IS one of the sections that will be tested on our second midterm.
In problem 1, I would not expect you to evaluate the answers as decimal numbers, but just to leave them in unsimplifed form.
Of course this practice exam does not include all possible topics that could be tested on the midterm.

Last year's practice final:
Practice Final in pdf

Solutions to this exam:
Practice Final Solutions in pdf
Practice Final Solutions in ps
Note the following points about this practice exam:
There is an essay. It's not likely I would give you one.
In problem 5, there is a mistake in the solutions. C is -1.5, not -1. (Thanks to one of you for pointing this out.)
There are no questions about sections 8.8-8.10, but these sections are certainly fair game.
You might also want to try problems 5, 7, 8 and 9 from the practice exam for midterm 2, which cover material that we covered AFTER our second midterm.
Of course this practice exam does not include all possible topics that could be tested on the exam.
