MAT 211

Welcome to Linear Algebra! In Fall 2015, the course MAT 211 is given in the following three lecture groups:

  • LEC 1 (MWF 12:00-12:53pm, Prof. Olga Plamenevskaya)
  • LEC 2 (TuTh 11:30- 12:50pm, Prof. Robert Andersen)
  • LEC 3 (MW 4:00- 5:20pm, Prof. Yuanqi Wang)

This webpage is for LEC 1. Other sections may have slightly different homework, schedule, etc. If you are using this page, make sure you are in LEC1!

This course provides an introduction to linear algebra. It covers systems of linear equations, Gauss-Jordan elimination, matrices and determinants, vector (linear) spaces and linear transformations, bases, dimension, the Kernel-Image theorem, inner-product spaces, orthogonality, Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, diagonalization. Algebraic objects are considered together with their geometric interpretations.
