Course description: A continuation of MAT 126, covering
sequences, series, Taylor series, differential equations and
modeling. Detailed syllabus is available here
Textbook: Single Variable Calculus (Stony Brook
Edition 5), by James Stewart. You would also need WebAssign
access code. You can buy the book at the University bookstore. For more details about
WebAssign and the book check this page..
Calculators use: Some homework problems may require use
of calculator. Graphing calculator will not be necessary.
Calculators will not be allowed in the final exams or the
midterm.
Quizzes, homeworks and exams:
There will be weekly homework assignments, consisting of online
homework (WebAssign) and some paper homeworks. For more details,
see "Homeworks" link to the left. Examinations will draw
from prior exams, practice tests, assignments, quizzes,
and lecture materials.
There will be a brief in-class quiz
every other week. Your instructor will give precise details.
In addition, there will two midterm exams and the final exam.
The time of these exams is as follows: Midterm 1:
8:30pm-9:50pm, 10/3 Midterm 2: 8:30pm-9:50pm,
11/8 Final exam: 11:15-1:45 pm, 12/18
Grades policy: Your final grade will be determined by
the weighted average of grades for homeworks,quizzes, midterms,
and the final exam:
Homeworks and quizzes: 15%
Midterms: 25%each
Final exam: 35%
If a valid (documented) reason for test absence is provided,
the grade of the alternate test will be used as a substitute.
