# MAT 360 (Geometric Structures) - Spring 2016

## Overview

This is a course in Euclidean planar geometry. A special emphasizes is on proofs and on recovering the theorems starting from basic principles (axioms). Time permitting, we will discuss some other topics (e.g. non-Euclidean geometry).

For the first part of the course (about 2/3 of the lectures) we will use:

## Announcements

• Welcome! Please check this webpage frequently (about once a week) for HW assignments and other important announcements.
• HW 9 (Due May 5)
• Final Exam: Thursday, May 5th (in class). It covers the material from midterms 1 and 2, plus affine transformations and conics. We will have a review on Tuesday (May 3 in class).
• Midterm 2: Thursday (in class). It will cover Chapter 3 of [K]. Review session - Tuesday (Mar 29, in class), and extra OH Monday 2:30 (my office).
• Midterm 1: Tuesday, Feb 23 (in class).

• There will be 2 midterms and a final. We will have approximately 10 homework assignments.
• The exams count for 75% of the final grade. The division is roughly: 35% for the final and 20% for each midterm. The remaining 25% will be for the homework assignments.
• No late HWs, and no make-up exams. (There will an extra make-up HW in case you missed one HW assignment).
