SUNY at Stony Brook MAT 656:
Fall 2020

Welcome to MAT 656: Group Theory and Dynamical Systems

The course will explore different connections between dynamical systems and group theory. We will start by reviewing certain aspects of the combinatorial and geometric group theory. Mapping class groups and self-similar groups will be discussed in more detail. We will show in the second half of the course how such groups naturally appear in the dynamics of post-critically finite rational maps.

This is a hybrid course that can be taken online or in person. Videos of recorded lectures are available at Weakly Plan.
