Visa Information

Those participants coming from abroad and requesting reimbursements will need to obtain a visa. Participants planning to be in the USA for more than 9 days should obtain a B-1 visa. A B-2 visa will suffice for participants planning to stay for at most 9 days. Mexican citizens in possesion of a Mexican Border Crossing Card do not need a visa.

Participants holding J-1 visas and requesting reimbursements should have written authorization from their host university (International Scholar Office). This authorization should be obtained before the beginning of the Conference.

We cannot directly reimburse participants holding H-1 visas. If you hold such a visa, please request your Department to reimburse you and send us, on department letterhead, an invoice with a copy of your expenses. We can then reimburse the department or university.

Participants holding F-1 visas will need to have the I-20 stamped Practical Training in order to be reimbursed for expenses. Please contact your International Scholar Office concerning this matter. If this cannot be done, request that your Department reimburse you. Your Department Administrator can then send us, on department letterhead, an invoice with a copy of your expenses. We can then reimburse the department or university.

If you have questions, please contact us by email at varieties@math.sunysb.edu, or contact Mrs. Gerri Sciulli by phone at (631) 632-7318. General information about visas may be found at the US Deparment of State Visa Services Page.
