Wavelet analysis is a way of trying to get more information out of a given signal. The signal may be a radio signal or a television signal, or any kind of signal at all.

Mathematics provides techniques of transforming signals so that they provide more information. Wavelet analysis is one such technique. It is very powerful because it analyzes according to scale.
