List of acceptable upper-division courses for MAT degree

These courses may be used to satisfy the mathematics major requirements as described with
2020 Undergraduate Bulletin item #8.

Four mathematics-related courses beyond those taken to satisfy Requirements 5, 6, and 7
(three will suffice if all of them are MAT courses), to be chosen from the following list. Note
that MAE 330 and MAT 331 may be used to satisfy both requirement 4 as well as requirement 8.

  1. MAE 301
  2. Any MAT course numbered 310 or higher except 475
  3. Any AMS course numbered 301 or higher except 361 and 475
  4. Any CSE course numbered 301 or higher except 475
  5. CHE 301, 302, 351, 353
  6. ECO 320, 321, 348
  7. LIN 361
  8. PHY 301, 302, 303, 306, 308, 405, 408
  9. PHI 330
  10. ESE 315, 319, 337

Other courses (such as mathematics intensive topics courses in economics) that a student would
like to use to satisfy these requirements must be proposed by the student and approved by the
Director of Undergraduate Studies.
