Title: Mean Curvature Flow and Minimal Surfaces
Speaker: Georgina Spence, Stony Brook University
Location: Math P-131
Abstract:
The main focus of this survey talk will be the mean curvature flow and using minimal surfaces to study the behavior of MCF. In particular, we will discuss how the equilibrium points of MCF give rise to minimal surfaces and time permitting, we will look at the catenoid as an example of constructing a minimal surface using MCF.
