|Gauss's Three Squares theorem gives a formula for the number|
of representations of a positive integer as a sum of three squares. This results leads to interesting connections between arithmetic, geometry and automorphic forms. In joint work with Valdir Jose Pereira we investigate analogous results and connections for rank 2 sublattices of the lattice of 4-tuples of integers.
