Travel information

Travel to Stony Brook, and on the campus

Directions for getting to the Stony Brook campus can be on the found University web page.

There is a train station on the Stony Brook campus; if you are flying in to JFK, take the airtrain to Jamaica, and from there you can take the Long Island Railroad to Stony Brook (Port Jefferson branch). Note that you will likely need to transfer at Huntington.
If you are flying in to LaGuardia or Newark, travel is more complicated.
Note that car service from JFK or LaGuardia will be around $80, and Newark will be more than that. MacArthur/Islip is 16 miles from the university; Lindy's Taxi at (631) 473-0707 charges about $35+tip for the trip.

The talks will be held in room 001 of the Earth and Space Sciences building. The opening wine and cheese will be at 5pm on Sunday, in room S-240 of the Mathematics building; the breaks between the talks will also be there. This room will be available for participants use between 8:30am and 6pm, monday through friday.

Participants staying in the dormitories will be staying in Mount College, part of Roth Quad. Parking for people in the dorms is nearby (a pass will be provided when you check in). If you have trouble or arrive after midnight, please call 631-632-6785 for assistance.
If you are driving to the dormitory, and come in the main campus entrance, turn right onto Loop road, then take the next left (just past the Wang center) onto John S. Toll road. You'll pass the math department on your left (construction going on!), and then the road dead-ends into Campus Drive. Turn right, then the next left onto Circle Road. The next left is Engineering drive (more construction should stop you from going further); you can park in the lot there, since Mount college is right there.

Participants not staying in the dorm may park in the stadium parking (brown signs), off stadium road. No permit should be required. From the main entrance, turn right onto N. Loop road, then make the second left onto Infirmary Rd. Follow that around as it becomes Stadium road; parking is on your right. If you are coming to the Wine and Cheese on Sunday, you can park in the small lot adjacent to the Mathematics and ESS buildings; parking there on monday will likely result in a ticket unless you have a parking permit.
